Nurturing Community – What Will Your Legacy Be?

WHAT WILL YOUR LEGACY BE?

The Sept. 7 Northwest Alliance Community Foundation (NACF) Fundraising Gala was a great success! In its third year at Northwest Passage Gallery, attendees enjoyed a social hour with appetizers catered by Adventures Restaurant, craft beer donated by Brickfield Brewing, and wine donated by an anonymous source. Plus, for the first time, NACF hosted an exciting live auction that netted $14,000 to help grow NACF’s endowment.

A variety of auction items included a coveted blueberry pie, impressive art, skid steer hours, and “experiences” such as Wild Ricing the Native American Way; A Guided Nature Walk in the Woods; and Maple Syrup A to Z. And the biggest auction surprise of the night was an amazing bid for a four-course gourmet dinner for eight.

But the evening’s true highlight was the public announcement of a $100,000 donation by Jennifer Turrentine. In a moving keynote speech noting the many reasons she decided to give such a generous donation, Jennifer said, “There are too many people who never had the advantages that I’ve had. Too many people who are hungry or are living in inadequate homes. Older people struggling to maintain a modicum of independence and children struggling to maintain balance in a crazy world. We all can help. We can all do more. I’m putting my money where my mouth is and I invite all of you to join me in supporting NACF’s work by making a donation now and considering including this organization in your estate plans.”

NACF is at a critical point where the need to increase the endowment fund is serious. Beginning in 2025, NACF grants will be solely funded by earnings from its endowment fund. In order to maintain NACF’s annual grant awards of $20,000 to area nonprofits, it is necessary to increase endowed funds by at least $300,000.

Building on Jennifer’s donation to the endowment fund, NACF announced the NACF Legacy Gift Campaign where community members pledge to donate $1000 for each of three years. By building its endowment fund, NACF is ensuring a stronger future for area nonprofits and our communities. Please join this philanthropic effort to grow our resources for now and the future.
