Northwest Alliance Community Foundation (NACF) and the St. Croix Valley Foundation support local nonprofits with Vibrant Communities Grants
For a fifth year, the Northwest Alliance Community Foundation (NACF) and the St. Croix Valley Foundation (SCVF), along with its nine affiliates, have distributed Vibrant Communities Grants to nonprofit organizations in the St. Croix Valley to address mental health issues. This year, 33 organizations received a total of $222,578. NACF funds directly supported grants to the Mental Health Task Force of Polk County, Northwest Passage, the St. Croix Valley Food Alliance, Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity and Family Resource Center St. Croix Valley. These represent a wide variety of approaches to addressing mental health in our area –rural mental health wellness, supporting farmers’ mental health, a digital health initiative and community programs. NACF is proud to support these exceptional nonprofits.

BUILDING RESILIENCE: How to Thrive in the Face of Adversity
On April 10th at the Siren Schools Auditorium, more than 30 people joined Jon Platson, Inner Peak Counseling, and Chris Crowe, North Star Academy, for a free workshop on resilience, its importance, and how we can create resilience for ourselves and others. Jon and Chris will use their expertise in resilience-building, protective factors, and working directly with youth to provide an overview of protective factors and risk factors (both for youth/adults and those serving youth/adults), how to build resilience, and new research for what folks can do when these strategies are falling short. They talked about how to best support those seeking and/or providing services in our organizations, especially during challenging times.

Maximizing Impact: Strengthening Fund Development and Donor Relations
“We will equip you with practical tools to strengthen your nonprofit’s funding strategies and donor relationships,” said Alyson Sauter, UW Extension, at the beginning of the Northwest Alliance Community Foundation’s (NACF) workshop for local nonprofit leaders.
Twenty-three attendees, representing 15 nonprofits, learned to analyze their nonprofit’s needs, strengths and weaknesses. Alyson Sauter provided excellent detail on planning and implementing a strategic fund development plan that can lead to nonprofit success.
The workshop, “Maximizing Impact: Strengthening Fund Development and Donor Relations,” was held on January 30th at Northwest Passage Gallery in Webster and was part of NACF’s ongoing Nurturing Your Nonprofit series of educational events for nonprofit leaders. These workshops are meant to help nonprofits function more effectively and efficiently.
